We offer you another way to get to know the paradisiacal spots of the northern area of Majorca, to explore its remote landscapes and awesome sceneries that time has shaped.
In this activity, we will carry out a route that starts in Formentor beach, situated in the north of Majorca. It is a narrow Peninsula of 12km long and 3km wide in Pollença municipality. This Peninsula, which is one of the most beautiful spots of Majorca, where there are cliffs of more than 400 metres high and numerous torrent mouths, and its littoral make it an amazing spot.
Once on the vessel, we can see Creueta viewpoint and Colomer islet at the background. It is one of the most famous spots in Majorca due to the fact that hundreds of photographs have been taken from there. As well as the Atalaya of Albercuix built at the end of XVI century and situated on the top of a hill of380 metres above sea level. It was designated to defend the island’s coast against pirate raids.
Our route will guide us to Punta of l´Avançada, it is a military area with limited access where there are plenty of small beaches with fine sand. In the intermediate part of Punta of l´Avançada there is the Fortalesa. It was a fortification built in 1622 to project Pollença Bay against corsair attacks and previous expropriation of it during the Civil War (1936 -1939) to the Argentinean artist Roberto Romaugé, who acquired it in 1919. It was an artist centre where Joseph of Creef, Andrés Segovia, Tito Cittadini or Joaquín Sorolla passed by.
Pines, tamarinds, and a great variety of fauna, where sea eagles, falcons or black vultures (voltor negre) stand out from the natural richness of the area, as well as a picturesque landscape where great historical figures such as Anglada Camarasa, Winston Churchill, Niceto Alcalá Zamora, John Wayne, Charles Chaplin, Anthony Queen… found inspiration or tranquillity.
We will go on surrounding the coast, visiting Borges Cove and stopping at Platjola which is a tiny beach where its green and pristine waters invite you to have a swim. After the break, we will end our trip back at Sa Gola beach.
