Kayak Course - Second level

Once you are in the canoeing world, it is difficult not to feel the need of practicing it more and more. Therefore, we offer you the opportunity to keep on learning and improving this sport.

In this 2nd level course, we study in depth the development and knowledge of new skills that let us practice manoeuvres and more advanced techniques.

As in the initiation course, we will insist on correction and perfection of the drive. We will make circles to the right and to the left, forward and backward, with the pertinent edging of the hull. We will also try to maintain the direction straight in front and at the back, with the inestimable help of the canteo of the hull.

In the activity epicentre supports will be very important because we will learn how to control the canoe with the back of the oar, therefore, avoiding future overturns.

Finally, once having learnt the tricks and knowledge of controlling the kayak, we have to learn the RESCUE. The auto rescue flotation paddle technique in deep waters will be the end of the course but the beginning of your own experience, with the sufficient guarantee and preparation of being able to do future trips on this kind of boat alone. So, the didactic objectives of this course would be:
 

• Low pressure recovery stroke to prevent a capsize.
• Edging the kayak.
• Turning the kayak using edging technique.
• Self rescue in deep waters using a paddle float.

It has to be said that the entire activity will be carried out with waterproof storage that offer greater ease and safety to the canoeists. Furthermore, you will be supervised at all times by specialist instructors in sea kayak, qualified by the Royal Spanish Canoeing Real Federation and with the best material available, consisting in a kayak of one or two seats.

• Sunglasses (better with floating cord) cap, shirt, sunscreeen.
• If you want, gloves, to keep hands free from salinity and friction, although notice that it will reduce sensibility with paddle.
• Water shoes.
• A snack and drink.
• A change of clothes.

• Supervision by a qualified professional instructor.
• All necessary material for the activity.
• Accident insurance.
• Level Certification.
