Bicycle route in Galatzo Torrent

In this mountain bike activity, the suitable routes focus on the Tramuntana Range lengthwise and widthwise, with its hidden spots and idyllic rough track it is becoming the practicing peregrinations centre of all Europe.

This activity has two different sectors. The first is in Santa Ponça which is the starting point. It is a tourist town in the Calvia municipality and a renowned place because of its historical importance due to the fact that Jaime I disembarked with troops to re-conquer Majorca against Arabs in 1229.

It has to be said that there are many rural tracks that go through some charming and wonderful landscapes of Calvia. Picturesque routes among wild flowers and hills covered with Holm oak trees, or around torrents full of flora, rushes and the song of the birds. Then, we will go to Son Pillo Track, which is very calm, rural and goes around a great variety of plants and flowers, above all in spring: fennel, wild chrysanthemum, cardoon, poppy, euphorbia, wild gladiolus, rockroses and creepers…Moreover, we will be able to see Galatzó Mount (1026 m) and Sa Mola de S’Esclop (927 m). All the way we will be passing the winding course torrent in a parallel way, even crossing the river bed several times during the excursion.

As for the second sector, it will start in Es Capdellà town, where we will have arrived before passing Finca des Galatzó, which were the old cart tracks that joined both places. This small town also belongs to the Calvia municipality. It is situated in the southern slope of Puig de Sa Grua, of 115 metres high above sea level just 3 km from Calvia town. From this point, we will alternate between dirt and tarmac roads that will lead us to Peguera, Calm Coast and again to Santa Ponça. The route has a moderate-high level of difficulty and it will be supervised by qualified instructors specialized in mountain bike. Bikes are made of alloy, front suspension and shifters Shimano LX 27 or DEORE 24.
